Mario's artwork in New Super Mario Bros. 2.

Mario is the main character of the Mario series. He has appeared in many games, comics, and cartoons. He has many abilities such as spinning and jumping. His brother is Luigi and his love interest is Princess Peach. He is in all of his games.

He first appeared in the Arcade game Donkey Kong as "Jumpman". However, he was first named Mario in the arcade game Mario Bros. along with his brother. Luigi.

Mario tries to take down Bowser constantly, because of his love interest and girlfriend Princess Peach being kidnapped by Bowser so much. Mario seems to be very brave unlike his brother Luigi.

Mario does not have a wide range of lines in games. Instead he shakes his head and uses hand motions. However he does make sounds when jumping and says lines such as "Ya" and "Its-a me Mario" Mario seems to be kind and open to others. His former girlfriend was Pauline. Since Super Mario Bros. , Mario's games have been some of the most top rated, and most popular games of all time.

Mario first appeared as "Jumpman" in Donkey Kong . He later appeared in a game for the Game & Watch, marking the first time he was titled as "Mario". Finally, Nintendo released the arcade game called Mario Bros, which also included Luigi's debut as Mario's Brother. When the NES was released, He also appeared the games Tennis, and Golf. In 1985, Nintendo released Super Mario Bros. , and became a big hit in The US and Japan. After which Nintendo was creating a sequal for the game. Mario has since then, made many apperences in many games for his own series, and spinoffs on a wide variety of Nintendo's consoles. His jobs were a plumber, construction worker, rescuer, racer, and even a doctor.

Mario Wears a red shirt, blue overalls, and a red hat with a letter "M" (for Mario's name) stitched in front. He is shorter and fatter then his brother Luigi, however his mustache is more straight. Mario is also rather brave unlike his brother. Mario has been in many scary places and situations without getting scared.

When Nintendo was making a main character for their game Donkey Kong, they created an 8 bit character with red overalls and a blue shirt, known as Jumpman. (Mario, as he was later called) They wanted to give him hair, but due to the technology's memory limitations at the time, they could not animate the hair, thus, gave Jumpman his red, signature cap players know today. Shigeru Miyamoto, originally called Jumpman "Mr. Video", but a worker from Nintendo Of America named Mario Segale came to them, asking for back rent; after which, Nintendo decided to name Jumpman after him.

Super Mario Bros.[edit]

Mario's first appearance in his series was in Super Mario Bros. for the NES. In this game, Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach and Mario must save her, the plot of many Mario games that came later. This was the game that arguably made Nintendo famous and secured Mario's spot as mascot.

Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels[edit]

Mario makes another appearance as the main protagonist of the very similar game, the sequel, Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels (sold in Japan as Super Mario Bros. 2 but as an entirely different game from the Super Mario Bros. 2 game shown below). Directly after Bowser's defeat and the Princess's rescue, Bowser had kidnapped her again and invaded the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario and Luigi has to rescue Princess Toadstool from Bowser the second time by traveling in new various different lands of the Mushroom Kingdom defeating more of the Koopa Troop and the False Bowsers.
