Donkey Kong Land III is the third and final installment of the Donkey Kong Land series. It was released for the Game Boy in October 1997. The game is based on Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! for the Super Nintendo.
Donkey Kong Land III was later released for the Game Boy Color approximately two years later. This version was called Donkey Kong GB: Dinky Kong & Dixie Kong and it was exclusively released to Japan in 2000, possibly because the Game Boy Color's life span was ending.
There is a contest in the Northern Kremisphere to see who can discover the Lost World first. Donkey and Diddy have already taken off to find it, while a disgruntled Dixie is left behind babysitting Kiddy. Deciding to prove herself every bit of capable as them, Dixie teams up with Kiddy to search for the Lost World. The Kremling Krew, in the meantime, are also searching for the Lost World too.
On the way, Dixie and Kiddy can find Wrinkly, who save the duo's game progress at her retreat. They also bump into Bear, who hosts a minigame where Dixie and/or Kiddy have to pair two identical cards. The two monkeys also run into their animal friends Ellie, Squawks, Squitter, and Enguarde.
- Donkey Kong Land III is the only video game from the Donkey Kong series where Donkey Kong doesn't appear. It is the only Donkey Kong game by Rare where Diddy doesn't appear, either.
